Troubleshooting DCD issues

Modem issues

From the main menu on the handheld select <diag> then select <Modem>.

  • Q:My modem status is cycling through +++, ATEO, $$$, STRT

    A: The DCD device is not recognizing the modem.
    • Check to see if the power cable is connected
    • Inspect the modem cable for any visable cuts or damage.
    • Contact DM&T
  • Q:My modem status is cycling through +CIND, CSQ, BearS, BearC, BearO, APN, USER PASS, STACK

    A: The modem has the wrong software or it is defective.
    • Contact DM&T
  • Q:My modem status is cycling through +++, ATE0, TELIT, CLOSEP, IMEI, +CMEE, STACK, STRT

    A: This could mean 1 of 3 things
    • The modem has no SIM card
    • The modem SIM lock is open
    • The Cell antenna is missing or loose.

    To fix this:

    • Make sure that the modem has a SIM card in the corrosponding SIM slot
    • If a SIM lock is avaliable, ensure that it is locked.
    • Make sure the cellular antenna is not missing or loose.

Troubleshooting Temperature issues

From the main menu on the handheld select <diag> then select <Temp>.

  • Q:The status of the temperature says “offline”

    A: This means that the DCD is not recieving temperature data from the RS232 adapter.

    To Fix This:

    • Check temperature cable for any visable cuts or damage. Replace if needed.
    • Check if the temperature cable is connected to the correct port.
    • Check the settings for temperature. See Video Below.

Troubleshooting GPS Issues

    From the main menu on the handheld select <diag> then select <GPS>.

  • Q:GPS not Available/No Signal

    A:There may be an issue with the GPS antenna cable.
    • Check if the GPS antenna is loose. If so tighten.
    • Check the GPS antenna cable for any cuts or damages. Replace as required.
  • Q: Time between GPS intervals is too long.

    A: GPS interval timer is not set correctly
    1. From the main menu on the handheld select <setup> then select <GPS>.
    2. Set the value to “010”. Use the side arrows to move the cursor and the up/down arrows to change the value.
    3. Once value is changed press enter to confirm the change.

Troubleshooting Spreader Issues

    From the main menu on the handheld select <diag> then select <Spreader>.

  • Q: Received and Saved values are not accumulating.

    A: The DCD is not receiving data from the spreader.
    • Make sure the spreader controller is turned on.
    • Make sure the spreader controller is setup to a ROADA DCD device.
    • Check for any loose of damaged cables. Replace as required.
    • Check that the spreader controller is connect to the DCD through the spreader port and ensure that the correct cable is being used.
    • Check that the DCD is setup for the correct spreader controller type.
      • From the main menu on the handheld select <setup> then select <Spreader>.

Troubleshooting ECM Issues

    From the main menu on the handheld select <diag> then select <ECM>.

  • Q:The DCD is not collecting ECM data.

    A:There is a communication issue between ECM module and the DCD.
    • Check the cable is connected to both DCD and ECM module
    • Check the cable for any damage.
    • Check the DCD is setup correctly.
